Common Treatments
Crowding of the teeth
Patient started treatment at age 11 and wore braces for 26 months. The braces were able to broaden the smile without permanent teeth extractions!
Open bite: Teeth in front are not able to touch
Patient had a tongue thrust habit that created this open bite. Treatment began at age 13. This patient wore braces and an appliance called a crib for 24 months. The crib appliance helped retrain the tongue to hit the mouth while speaking and swallowing as opposed to thrusting into the front teeth. Now this patient can bite the lettuce out of a sandwich!
Deep overbite: Lower front teeth bite into palate
This is an adult patient that is 25 years old. He wore braces for two years and underwent jaw surgery. His severe overbite could have been treated without the need for jaw surgery if he had been treated during his growth phase as a teenager.
Missing lateral incisors
This patient is congenitally missing his lateral incisors. She wore braces for a total of twenty months. This patient had the option of filling the spaces with “Maryland” bridges or implants. This patient chose “Maryland” bridges and looks amazing!
Underbite: Lower teeth extend out in front of the upper teeth
This patient’s under bite was causing uneven and excessive wear patterns on her teeth. This adult patient had about thirty months of treatment beginning at age thirty-two. This patient is now able to incise food much easier!
Spacing of teeth
This patient was self conscious about the spaces between his teeth. Braces effectively closed the spaces and corrected his bite within twenty four months. An upper retainer that is bonded to the backside of the teeth will help to keep the spaces closed.
Overjet: Front teeth that are protruding
This patient had a severe overjet with the upper teeth extending far out beyond the bottom teeth. She had two phases of treatment. The first phase was conducted at age ten to help encourage her jaws to grow correctly. The second phase was done at age twelve to better again all of her adult teeth and bite. At age thirteen, she cannot seem to stop smiling!
Non-braces treatment
This patient was examined at age seven for lower crowding of the permanent teeth. Sometimes braces are not needed to gain tooth alignment improvements. The orthodontist preformed a procedure that reduced the width of adjacent primary teeth. This added space allowed the permanent incisors to naturally align in just nine months!
Phase-One
The lower front teeth were crowded and touching the palate, and the upper front teeth were extremely displaced from their normal positions. After 12 months of Phase-One treatment with an expander and partial braces, patient's appearance and dental function was vastly improved.
This patients parents brought him in at age eight. Their main concern was esthetics and healthy eruption of permanent teeth. This patient presented extreme crowding in the upper and lower anterior teeth. Twelve months of phase-one treatment improved both the dental function and the appearance of this patients teeth.
